Rhaz Oriente (b. 1992, Manila) is a visual artist working across installation, photography, moving image, text and digital technologies. Her research-based practice examines how urban and environmental landscapes are shaped by people, natural forces and the systems that organise them, and attends to what is left unseen.
Her works often begin with research: archives, maps, data and time spent on site. She sets what she finds against the place it describes and looks for where the two stop agreeing. She often works with transparent materials and light, which let something be seen in part and never all at once, and in some works the light follows data, the weather or the position of the sun.
She was a fellow of the Maybank Foundation Artist Fellowship Programme in 2024 and received a MEASA Participation Grant to present at ICME Day during the 27th ICOM General Conference in Dubai in 2025. She lives and works in the Philippines, where she is also an exhibitions programmer at a contemporary art gallery.
