Rhaz Oriente (b. 1992) is a Manila-based multidisciplinary artist whose work explores time, memory, and perception through light, transparency, and materiality. Working with installations, mixed media, and reflective surfaces like glass, gradients, and light, she creates subtle interventions that engage with presence and absence, shifting in response to their surroundings. Her works capture fleeting moments, distilling them into minimal yet immersive forms.

Her process blends research and conceptual exploration, drawing from spatial conditions, personal encounters, and fleeting moments. Her works engage with their environment, responding to light, space, and context, allowing light and material to function as both subject and medium.

Oriente studied Fine Arts at Far Eastern University, Philippines. She has exhibited at West Gallery, Finale Art File, and MO Space in Manila, as well as Balai Seni Maybank in Kuala Lumpur. Her work has been featured in BusinessWorld, Cartellino, and spot.ph

My work explores the interplay of time, memory, and humanness through the use of light, materiality, and space. By working with transparent and reflective materials like glass and gradients, I aim to capture fleeting moments that define our perception of the world. These materials mirror the shifting nature of memory and time—transient, ever-changing.

My works exist not as static objects, but as evolving experiences that interact with their surroundings. They engage with light and space, dissolving into the environment, allowing each viewer to perceive and experience them differently.

Through this process, my practice invites reflection on the impermanence of being, prompting contemplation on how we relate to the space around us, the passage of time, and the memories we carry.
