Iris Insight, 2023

Twenty-seven close-up photographs of human irises are printed on acrylic glass and installed on three illuminated wooden tables that resemble the desks where people work and study. Oriente photographed the irises of people she encountered while they were using their gadgets. The tables glow with the blue light of phone and computer screens, and in place of a screen, the light frames an eye. There is nothing to scroll and no reason to hurry.
