Rhaz Oriente's United by Words, Divided by Walls reflects the current state of the nation as observed during her commutes. In her travels, Oriente discovered that communication has become more challenging due to various barriers in public transportation, industries, and establishments, which are compounded by the pandemic that has forced people to isolate themselves. Oriente takes a broader perspective and captures the psyche of the people by photographing graffiti and writings on walls across Metro Manila. Her collection of photos, presented as Jeepney barriers, reveals social issues and concerns of the present day. Through her work, Oriente compiles a narrative that includes personal musings, political satires, grievances, and utter nonsense, all of which provide a compelling view of the present as seen through the written thoughts and scribbles of the people.
